NME AWARDS TOUR | REVIEW
Posted: 23/02/12 • Source: http://www.buzzmag.co.uk/uncategorized/nme-awards-tour-review/
If nothing else, the annual NME tour brings together a good selection of punters to have a nosey at. Miniscule just-teens radiate amped-up giddiness while 30 and 40-somethings (some of them clearly parental chaperones) look on with wistful envy.

I didn't sleep a wink the night before. At 4.30am, sat with eyes like pickled onions in front of my computer with a camomile tea that was neither 'soothing' nor 'relaxing' me, I decided that putting gigs on wasn't for me. The thing that had kept me up was, strangely, a good-mannered kindness: "Sorry I won't be able to make it, I'm a bit skint. I'm sure you'll have a great time and a lovely crowd.

I was 20 and living a dissolute student life in Liverpool when Manic Street Preachers' Generation Terrorists came out 20 years ago. Despite the band coming from a whole other cultural universe from my hometown of Mold, I remember being excited that…
