FLOWER OF PHONG LABEL LAUNCH NIGHT
Flower Of Phong is a new label issuing small runs of CDs and other things in handmade, non-shit packaging. Releases will be irregular and originate from different parts of the world but this launch features at least four acts from round these parts. There’ll be film projections and instruments, with these people playing in various guises, if that’s not too specific for you.
Jemma Roper
Former Sammo Hung and Heck singer/guitarist and current Vinyl Vendetta don, Roper’s new solo debut album will be the first Phong release. ‘Emits Rays’ is a spangly and great collection of songs that sound like brittle art rock crossed with The Knife and Kate Bush crossed with magical realism and Russian literature. No idea if this’ll be a solo or with-other-musicians gig but you can hear the album there, read a review there, or buy multiple copies on the night.

DC Gates
The long standing spleen of Gindrinker and Brandyman, if spleens were short Northern men prone to bilious ranting, DC will be in rare spoken word mode tonight. We’ll be releasing an album of suchlike in… some time this year.
The Spines
Chris Eynon’s gentlemanly guitar project, featuring Chris Eynon sitting down and playing a guitar. Beautiful noises predicted, which may or may not be taken from a ready-to-drop forthcoming album.
Stacking Chairs
Sometimes solo, sometimes with “friends”, Casey Raymond makes sounds via mangled cassettes, stupid drums and miked-up cheese sandwiches. An album is ready to go. It’s good.

Plus, ahem, DJ Cry Wank.
