THE JOY COLLECTIVE PRESENTS…
DAVID THOMAS BROUGHTON & FRIENDS
One of the most unmissable and original live acts around, Broughton is a legendary Northern folk shaman, combining avant-garde performance with songs that loop guitar, vocals, and anything else at hand into spiralling storms of noise. Dada and silent comedy mix with music equally as good – last year’s ‘Crippling Lack’ album was three LPs of bleak wit and crooning with collaborators such as Aidan Moffat, Beth Orton and Rachael Dadd, while 2015′s documentary film ‘The Ambiguity Of…’ toured film festivals and is a cracker. For this tour Broughton will play one-off sets with local artists, which in this case means Rosie Smith (Oh Peas/Totem Terrors), Garteh Bonello (The Gentle Good) and Andy Regan (Pagan Wanderer Lu and solo work). Did we say unmissable?
