The Joy Collective, The Rusty Trombone Of God & Mr Iain Peebles present…

R. STEVIE MOORE

Born in Nashville to Elvis’s bass player in 1952, Moore started home recording in the late ’60s and releasing in the mid ’70s. A relentless nutjob stream of cassettes and CDRs followed: freak pop, mangled AOR, bossa nova, doo-wop, Speak & Spell electronics, Beatles cover albums… Over 400 albums in all, thousands of songs coated in cranky, primitivist bedroom experimentalism. He’s collaborated with Ariel Pink, Andy Partridge, Mike Watt, Jad Fair, Yukio Yung, provided the backing music for Bingo Gazingo and possibly covered 2 Live Crew. This is his first ever tour. Moore is a fricking legend and if you’ve ever displayed even a passing interest in the ‘eccentric’ work of Daniel Johnson, Brian Wilson or anyone else overrated you have to be here. Quite a lot to be heard (natch) via his official site:

TROPICAL OOZE
Moore’s backing band also double as a nifty group in their own right. From Brooklyn, expect to hear expansive garage and plush, dreamy guitar pop.

H. HAWKLINE
Huw Evans’s band of psych-garageists return, chewing on fuzzy Jonathan Richman/Velvets/Nuggets bubblegum brilliance. Debut album ‘A Cup Of Salt’ is still one of last year’s best. Hope they have that bald bloke hitting things on stage again.

We’re very happy to have DJ Richard S Jones back to play “outsider psych, jazz, garage rock and other strange stuff” at this event. Your ears will smile.
