A slice of the One Little Indian / Fat Cat Records are passing through our catchment area.

The Balky Mule
Debut album out 16 March

“Jones’ sweetly keening tunes recall The Pastels, his reedy voice Robert Wyatt, but any folk pop-cuteness is offset via glitchy effects and his occasional Malkmus-like lyrical bite” – – UNCUT (3/5)

“This album wonderfully straddles long-long electronics, troubadour songwriting and lounge rhythms and provides one of the years most interesting ventures into singer/songwriting” – – Artrocker

“A record that beams with a soft-hearted longing that still rings true with each listen” – AU (8/10)

29 Mar – Polish Club, Bristol (w/Vic Chesnutt)
30 Apr – Spillers Records In-store, Cardiff (5:00PM)
30 Apr – Clwb Ifor Beach, Cardiff (w/Banjo or Freakout)

Kill It Kid
Debut single, Send Me An Angel Down out May 18th.

One Little Indian are excited to welcome Bath 5-piece Kill It Kid to the roster, as a band set for great things in 2009. For want of an easy comparison, a blend Tom Waits, Anthony Hegarty and The Raconteurs has been mentioned. But Kill It Kid sound very much their own – an impassioned, adventurous slant on blues and dark pop through powerful songs, gorgeous two-part vocals and a penchant for down-home storytelling. Led by dual vocalists Chris Turpin and Stephanie Ward, Their demo/EP was produced by John Parish (as a visiting producer at Bath Spa University – where the band was founded) and the band is currently finishing their debut in Seattle with Ryan Hadlock (Johnny Flynn, The Strokes, Foo Fighters), in the same studio Fleet Foxes was laid down.

6 Apr – Komedia, Bath
12 Apr – Moles Club, Bath
14 Apr – The Fleece, Bristol
