Francois and the Atlas Mountains is the ‘Francois’ that supported Camera Obscura at Clwb a couple of years ago. There were like 8-10 of them onstage then but they’re just coming with 4 for this show…
HORSE FEATHERS were formed in Portland, Oregon and are Justin Ringle, Peter Broderick (also a songwriter himself and in Efterklang), and collaborator Heather Broderick, Peter’s sister, on cello and backing vocals. In 2006 their debut album ‘Words are Dead’ was released by Lucky Madison, and their second album ‘House With No Name’ was released on Kill Rock Stars in September 2008.
“Justin Ringle’s voice fills out a room with startling results.. the album’s stark honesty and open-wound vocal deliveries are as personally effecting as they are orchestrated musically, and for that credit is due to prodigal multi-instrumentalist Peter Broderick. By using a variety of instrumental arrangements including guitar, banjo, percussion, piano, saw and strings, Horse Feathers draw from a palette of sounds that is old in approach yet fresh in execution.. influenced by Nick Drake, Nebraska-era Springsteen, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billie and Cat Power..”
“..a beautiful and often bleak album.. simplistic guitar, flowing string arrangements and infrequent but luscious harmonies.. the songs are expertly crafted. A great balance of textures, sweeping dynamic shifts and sparsely applied yet effective percussion..” – 4/5 MusicOHM
