Rogora Khart are an eclectic band of vagabonds, miscreants, wanderers and rogues who come from the depths of the Georgian winter and Carpathian cold with a compelling desire to entertain and delight you with their unique brand of music and theatre.
Having just finished recording our debut album, finally having a legal driver in the band and having played enough gigs to actually know what chords are for which songs The Stilletoes are more ready and just as energized as we ever were. This is no bullshit. We never lost the passion or the drive that the little, unexperienced but exited 15 & 11 year old Efa & Iago had starting this band at the end of 2006. We’ve finally beaten some of the frustrations being young and in a band can give you, and so our confidence and dreams are sky high, our songs are catchier, still as opinionated and our shows are more unpredictable than ever. We finally found someone who could actually play his instrument to become bass player number 3 at the end of 2007; James Peglar – the muso who became the glue of this band, the one who helped us develop. He taught Iago what rhythm was, and brought out the potential of the angry but thoughtfull pop punk gems Efa was churning out. Watch out for the album, you’re gunna fucking love it – it’s young, it’s orginal, it’s energetic and colourful. It’s ours, it’s yours, it’s full of things to say, ideas to tell you about and catchy, grungey pop songs. 1,2,3,4…..
Raw and loud as fuck Punk Rock/ Grunge Quartet from Cardiff with a famously intimidating lead singer. Formed in 2004 they have been scaring the shit out of audiences all across Wales, the Southwest and as far afield as the mysterious land of Sheffield. Their single Sleaze Campaign was released in 2005 on Complete Control Music, followed by a mini tour. Since then they have established themselves firmly in the South Wales Punk/ Alternative/ Anarchist scene and are a famous for blowing ususpecting punters brains with their fast furious frenzied noise. They are favorites of well known alternative promoters Tantrum who are active in Cardiff, Bristol and Manchester and also look after infamous Electro/ Post New Ravers Sicknote.
“One of the finest one minute and forty four seconds of music that has ever been my pleasure to play on the radio.” -Adam Walton, BBC Wales-
“Rock’ n roll stripped to the bones, all excess baggage discarded to aid maximising the velocity, which is then used to pump as much noise as possible out of the amps and send it crashing around the venue” –Peppermint Iguana-
“The Physicists are all wrong – but in a good way. The quartet, who count ex Bikini Kill star Tobi Vail amongst those they’ve impressed, are purveyors of thrashing, brattish punk songs that snarl and bite and are about “homosexuals and crack and dogs”. –Silent Words Speak Loudest-
“Hit the stage at 100 miles an hour a mix of psychobilly punk rockin not unlike Cardiff’s finest “Demented are Go” in their heyday of the early 80’s. This lot would definitely have been at home in the Clarendon, Hammersmith, during those psychobilly heydays. “I can honestly say that I have never, ever, seen a female vocalist give it some like “Sal”, she nearly made herself sick with effort!” –Guy Salvador, Southerndown Records-
Back from their UK tour and with their debut album hot from the press, Smokey Bastard are in full swing with their trademark Raucous, Riotous, Too-Many-People-On-One-Stage show and are headed to Newport to bring their own brand of Folk/Punk to TJs. Celtic-thrash at it’s Best.
“I think it’s safe to say that if you were to ask the man on the street to name his favorite Reading-based 7 piece folk-punk outfit then chances are he’s gonna plump for Smokey Bastard…”
