Familiar names, unfamiliar setting. This should be a total joy – part pop-science demonstration, part interactive have-a-go session, part utterly bargainous gig featuring several of Cardiff’s best and brightest celebrating the joys of songcraft, questing experimentation and the glee of making a big mad noise. Plus there’s a two-hour interval where you can nose around Penarth on a Saturday tea-time, explore the gallery and get your dinner on. How totally ruddy civilised. Ffotogallery are the good eggs hosting the family-friendly alldayer, which is free to enter for the workshops and a mere £3 after 6pm for the gig. Onstage, or not as the case may be, are genius boy-man Sweet Baboo and fellow folk wanderer H. Hawkline (both also hosting a songwriting class which promises to be special), as well as top knob-twiddlers and found sound manipulators Failed NASA Experiment and Stacking Chairs. It’s a great idea, a lovely setting and has a perfectly chosen cast. Pop in and reward their hard work.
